Agreement
By downloading, installing, or using Sacred Scrolls (the "App"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
What Sacred Scrolls is
Sacred Scrolls is a Catholic Bible reading app for iPhone and iPad. It includes the full Douay-Rheims Bible, AI-assisted Scripture study, audio narration, and prayer features. The app is operated by Sacred Scrolls.
Subscription
Access to Sacred Scrolls requires an active paid subscription. Pricing, duration, and any introductory offer are shown in the App Store before you purchase.
- Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple through your App Store account.
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal.
- Manage or cancel your subscription anytime in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your device.
- Refund requests are handled by Apple per their App Store refund policy.
Account
Sign in with Apple or Google is required to sync your subscription, AI chat history, and reading progress across devices. You are responsible for activity on your account. If you suspect unauthorized use, contact [email protected].
AI chat — what to expect
The AI Bible study chat uses third-party language models (OpenAI) to answer questions about Scripture. AI responses can be incorrect, incomplete, or unintentionally misleading and should not replace consultation with a priest, theologian, or other qualified guide on matters of doctrine or pastoral care.
You are responsible for the questions you submit. Don't submit personal data about other people, confidential information, or content that violates Apple's App Store rules or applicable law.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the App.
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute the AI-generated content, audio, or images at scale.
- Use the App to harass, threaten, or harm others.
- Probe, attack, or interfere with the App's infrastructure.
- Resell access or share a paid account with others.
Content and intellectual property
The App, including its design, software, AI-generated illustrations, audio narration, and original text, is owned by Sacred Scrolls and protected by copyright. The Douay-Rheims Bible text is in the public domain. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use the App on devices you own.
Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is." We do not guarantee that AI responses are doctrinally accurate, that the service is uninterrupted, or that the audio and image generation will always be available. Sacred Scrolls is not a substitute for pastoral care, spiritual direction, or professional advice.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Sacred Scrolls is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the subscription in the 12 months before the claim.
Termination
You can stop using the App at any time and delete your account from Settings → Account → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms.
Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date and surfaced in-app. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
